From Alpha Delta to Harvard Law to Motherhood, This Phi Mu Has a History of Accomplishment

Some folks just seem destined for “big things.” For Julie Grimes Waldorf, Alpha Delta, big things seem almost routine.

After speaking on the U.S. Constitution and winning the state American Legion Oratorical Contest three times in high school, Julie was motivated me to pursue a career in law.

Her senior year, she won the national NATO essay contest. “I took my first trip to Europe and decided that I wanted to study international law. My senior year I was also selected as the first female Newman Scholar at the University of Mississippi,” Julie says.

Phi Mu Philanthropy Comes Full Circle

…when Sandee Hooker put her six year old daughter on the school bus, her friends asked her why she would take such a risk. “I want my child’s life to be as normal as possible,” she would say. Her reply never changed.

Normalcy was a treat for little Elizabeth Hooker, who was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia at just three and a half. The disease made the child’s health fragile and put her at risk for infections other children could fend off.

2006 Phi Mu National Convention: A True Phi Mu Celebration!

"Convention is like Christmas for me. I get to see Sisters I haven't seen in years, and I always have so much fun, it is like getting to open presents!,” said Phi Mu Foundation Vice President of Public Relations, Margo Grace, ΔΤ. And, indeed, the 2006 Phi Mu National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee was chocked full of fun, surprises, valuable information and Sisterhood.

Phi Mu Foundation and Phi Mu Fraternity celebrated the end of the incredible 2004 - 2006 biennial where the dream of a Phi Mu National Headquarters became a reality, meaningful relief was provided for Sisters who were devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Rita; over $180,000 in scholarships were awarded to Phi Mu Sisters; and over $1.1 million was raised for Children’s Miracle Network.
