Fun, Festive Times at Foundation’s 50th
Didn’t get to join us for Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration? We’re including a sampling of the activities of the weekend so that you may be a part of the excitement.
Members of Legacy League and the 1852 Society enjoyed a lovely wine and cheese social on Saturday evening, February 17. The ladies loved the opportunity to visit, catch up on the latest Phi Mu news and celebrate the many accomplishments of the dedicated members of Foundation. Later that evening, 1852 Society members gathered for a dinner, complete with show-stopping entertainment by the collegiate members of Alpha Iota Chapter from Mercer University.
Sunday’s festivities kicked off with tours of the National Headquarters. For many, this was their first time to see the landmark building that means so much to us all. It especially was touching to share with Polly Cowherd, Φ, Past National President, her first impression of the Headquarters. Or to hear Former Foundation President Marguerite Kelso Ballard, Φ, say to her husband, Buck, while viewing the stunning conference table in the elegant board room, “Look dear, this is the table we bought!” And, Buck’s quick response was, “Oh, so that’s why I’m still working!”
After mingling over delicious refreshments, guests gathered in the Leadership Development Center given by Leona Hughes Hughes, ΔΔ, to reminisce together over the beginnings and tremendous growth of the Foundation.
A highlight of the afternoon was viewing the 50th Anniversary tribute video which showcased the successes of the Foundation since its founding in 1957. A DVD of the tribute is available for alumnae chapters to use to inform their members about Foundation. Contact Courtney Flores at 770.632.2119 or cflores@phimu.org if your alumnae chapter would like a copy.
Excitement filled the room when Kimberly Kennedy, ΑΑ, author of the popular book The Art and Craft of Entertaining, shared with those in attendance her love for Phi Mu, dedication to Foundation and the many exciting opportunities in her future. After the event, Kimberly visited with fellow Sisters and autographed countless books.
All-in-all the weekend was a roaring success! Many sincere thanks to you who continue to make giving back to Phi Mu Foundation a priority – we couldn’t continue to grow without you!
