Scarves Video Revised and Released as DVD

Earlier this year, alumna initiate Rikki Ragland Marver, ΦΘ, assisted Phi Mu Foundation in the production of a DVD version of the popular Scarves: A Fashionable Alternative video. Rikki served as the on-air host of the new DVD by introducing segments pulled from the original video.

Scarves: A Fashionable Alternative was first produced by another talented Phi Mu, the late Dinah Armstrong Kukes, ΑΜ, in 1991. Dinah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985 and her treatment led to the loss of her hair. As a former Miss Alabama, Dinah felt strongly that feeling good about herself during treatment would only enhance her recovery. She also wanted other women struggling with hair loss to know that they could look good too.

Dinah’s original video inspired countless cancer patients and others who lost their hair due to illness. In recent years, Phi Mu Foundation received numerous requests for a DVD version of Dinah’s message. Proceeds from the sale of the new DVDs will be used to fund oncology research through the Dinah Armstrong Kukes Memorial Grant.
